Police Log: Four Vehicle Break-Ins in One Day

The vehicles in all cases were left unlocked at the time of the thefts.

Thieves were quite busy on July 14 as four separate parties reported that their vehicles had been broken into that day.

In the first case, a party called Needham police at 8 a.m. to report that someone had broken into his vehicle. He stated that when he went outside that morning, he noticed that the glove box to his car was open. Upon further inspection, he noted that his iPod Class and a Swiss Army Knife had been taken.

Police inspected the scene at Howland St. and noted that there was no visible damage to the vehicle in question and that the other vehicle in the driveway appeared to be untouched.

At 8:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to Gayland Rd. The reporting party stated that someone had entered his vehicle and taken his sunglasses and some loose change. According to police reports, the vehicle was left unlocked. The man's wife was in the driveway at the time of the theft, but her car did not appear to be entered, according to the party.

Less than an hour later, at 9:30 a.m., police were call to Pleasant St. for a report of a van broken into. The woman stated that her vehicle had been unlocked and that someone made off with her wallet two Razor scooters. The woman told police that she would cancel the credit cards and police advised her to request a credit check.

Finally, at 10:15 a.m., Officer Vincent Springer spoke with a woman who stated that her vehicle on Webster St. had been broken into. A Paul McCartney CD and a Magellan GPS were taken, she said. The vehicle had been left unlocked and there not appear to any damage to the vehicle.
