Police Log: Illegal Animal Trapping

Animal Control was dispatched to Seabeds Way for a report of a man trapping animals that went near his garden.

Officer Danielle Landry found that the man was using Havahart traps before relocating the respective animals to the Town Forest. Officers then looked around the building for any additional traps and found one in the back. Landry asked the man if the trap belonged to him and he admitted that it was, though said he was unaware that trapping animals was illegal.

Officers explained to the man that trapping was against the Mass. General Laws and that he was breaking Chapter 131 section 37. The man told officers that he would no longer commit the act and handed over his trap. Officers also gave the man more humane ideas to keep animals out of the garden, according to reports.
