Police Log: Teens Cited for Marijuana

Officer relates that marijuana odor was "overpowering."

While on patrol in the area of Webster St. and Harris Ave. on June 17 at 9:37pm, Needham police observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road with its lights on. Officer Leo Schlittler then pulled his car in behind the other vehicle, which appeared to have a flat tire.

Schlittler approached the vehicle and observed that the passenger compartment was filled with smoke. The operator of the vehicle, meanwhile, was holding a glass pipe in his hand, which was lit and had smoke emanating from the bowl, according to reports.

Officer Schlittler then knocked on the window and when the driver rolled the window down, the "odor of marijuana was overpowering," Schlittler stated. After searching the driver, officers located a plastic bag, which the driver said contained marijuana. At this time, one of the parties reported feeling "very lightheaded and dizzy."
