Police Reports: Overnight Break-in at Woodbine Circle Home

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

A Woodbine Circle couple reported that someone broke into their home overnight on Friday, March 30 and stole a purse.

The residents woke up around 5 a.m. when their dog began barking at the front door. When the husband looked outside he saw a person on a bicycle pedaling away from the front of the home, according to reports. Later in the morning, the wife noticed that her purse was missing.

Police are investigating.

Driver ‘Verbally Abusive’ to School Traffic Supervisor
A traffic supervisor reported that a driver leaving on Friday, March 30 failed to stop when directed to do so and became “verbally abusive” as he drove by. The matter is being investigated.

Teen Caught Shoplifting at Sudbury Farms
A Needham teenager was allegedly caught shoplifting items from on Wednesday, March 28 at around 12:55 p.m. The 15-year-old Needham resident was seen stuffing merchandise into his backpack by a loss prevention agent at the store, located at 1177 Highland Ave. The man was summonsed to court for shoplifting.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle at West & Highland Ave.
A woman came to the police station at around 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 to report that she had been struck by a vehicle four hours earlier while crossing at West Street and Highland Avenue. The driver of the vehicle that struck her had stopped to see if she was OK but was not identified, according to reports. The woman had decided to get checked out at the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Money Taken from NHS Gym Locker
A student reported on Thursday, March 28 that money was stolen from a wallet he had left in an unsecured gym locker at the school. The matter is under investigation.

Attempted Larceny at CVS
A manager at on Highland Avenue called police on Friday, March 30 to report attempted larceny. The manager said he had seen two males remove items from the shelves and that they then attempted to leave without paying for the items. They did not leave with the items, however. The manager followed them outside briefly but the individuals left the scene quickly, according to reports.

The matter is under investigation.

Residents Called about Fraudulent Loan
A St. Mary Street resident called police on Friday, March 30 after receiving phone calls from someone claiming they had been approved for a loan for which they had never applied. The individual was advised to contact the appropriate credit agencies.

Needham Teen Caught Furnishing Alcohol
A 17-year-old Needham resident was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors after police responded to a noise disturbance at her home.

Police were called to the residence to handle a noise disturbance at around 10:54 p.m. on Friday, March 30. The homeowners were apparently out of town, but officers spoke to a juvenile resident. While speaking with the teen, officers noticed several cans of beer, both opened and unopened, on the kitchen counter. The resident, a 17-year-old female, was summonsed to court for furnishing alcohol to minors.

Newton Man Fled After Police Saw Alcohol in his Vehicle
A Newton man drove away from a Needham police officer who was questioning him on Sunday, April 1.

The officer had pulled over the vehicle on Wexford Street at around 10:20 a.m. to speak with the operator about his attempt to purchase cigarettes at a local business, according to reports. While attempting to speak with the man, the officer noticed open alcohol in the man's vehicle. That’s when the driver took off.

Newton Police later located the vehicle and two of its occupants on Christina Street in Newton. A 22-year-old Newton man was arrested for failure to stop for police and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. A 19-year-old Foxborough man was summonsed to court for being under 21 in possession of alcohol and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

A third individual, a 20-year-old Foxborough man, was arrested by Newton Police on an outstanding warrant for failure to appearing Wrentham District Court. He also was summonsed on charges of underage possession of alcohol and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Driver Charged in Panera Parking Lot Crash
A Roslindale man was arrested for unlicensed operation and other violations after being involved in a crash in the parking lot on Sunday, April 1.

The crash occurred around 10:23 a.m. outside the restaurant on Highland Avenue. One of the operators could not produce a valid license, registration or form of ID, and the license plate on the man’s vehicle was found to be improperly attached, according to reports. The operator was allegedly at fault for the crash.

The 25-year-old Roslindale resident was arrested for unlicensed operation, failure to stop, having an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and attaching plates.

Suspicious Man Talking to Girls About Abortion
Police were called to on Sunday, April 1 at around 3:08 p.m. for the report of a suspicious man who was talking to young girls about abortion. The individual reportedly left the scene before police arrived.

Rock Thrown Through Business Window
Police were called to a Hillside Avenue business on Monday, April 2 for the report of past vandalism. Over the past few days, someone had thrown a rock through a window at the business. The incident remains under investigation.
