Police Reports: Elderly Pair Gets Lost at Ridge Hill

Two elderly residents got lost in the woods at on Wednesday, March 14 and used a cell phone to call police for help.
Several officers arrived at around 4:35 p.m. to assist in the search. Using a cell phone and having the individuals guide police based on how close their voices were, officers were eventually able to locate the pair.
Once the two were brought out of the woods, paramedics checked them out for any medical issues. No injuries were reported.

Attempted Break-in on Morton Street
A Morton Street resident reported an attempted break-in on Monday, March 12 at around 1:45 p.m. It appeared that someone had tried to enter through the front door but was unsuccessful, according to police reports. The matter is under investigation.

Work Tools Taken from Home
A home under renovation on Highland Terrace Avenue was broken into and work tools were taken on Monday, March 12.
Police responded at around 3:16 p.m. and observed that someone had forced entry through the front door, according to reports. No other damage was done to the residence, which was being renovated, but work tools were reported missing.
Police are investigating.
Security Check Leads to Drug Citation
A 21-year-old Newton man was cited for marijuana possession on Wednesday, March 14 after police came across him sitting in his vehicle allegedly preparing to smoke.
A Needham office was doing a security check of the Charles River Landing apartments on Second Avenue at around 2:34 a.m. when he observed the man in his vehicle.
Police confiscated the marijuana and cited the man for possession of an ounce or less of marijuana.
Suspicious Van Reported on Carey Road
Residents on Carey Road contacted police on Saturday, March 17 at around 4:15 p.m. after a group of young children on bicycles reported a white van driving slowly through the neighborhood.
The two kids told their parents that after they observed the van and turned around to head home, one of the van occupants shouted “Hey!” out the window. The individuals in the vehicle did not attempt to entice the kids closer, according to reports.
Police checked the area but did not locate the vehicle.
Taxi Involved in Hit and Run
Police were called to Woodbine Circle on Sunday, March 18 at around 10:45 p.m. after a taxi allegedly struck a vehicle that was parked legally in front of a home, then left the scene without reporting the incident. The parked vehicle was damaged in the crash.
Police are investigating.
