Police Reports: Gas Stolen from Hess Station

An employee at the on Highland Avenue reported that a customer left without paying for gas on Friday, April 6 at around 7:20 a.m. The individual’s license plate number was noted, and police attempted to contact the vehicle’s registered owner. The matter remains under investigation.

Hit and Run in Church Lot
A vehicle parked at the on Great Plain Avenue was struck in an apparent hit-and-run on Tuesday, April 3. The vehicle owner told police he had parked in the rear lot at around 1:20 p.m. and noticed damage to his driver’s side door when he returned at 6:15 p.m. There were no witnesses to the crash.

Dover Resident Cited for Pot Possession
A 19-year-old Dover resident was cited for marijuana possession on Tuesday, April 3 after his vehicle was stopped in Needham for having a registration plate violation.

A Needham Police officer pulled over the vehicle near the intersection of West and Birch streets around 11 p.m., and, while speaking with the operator, smelled an “odor of marijuana,” according to the report. The driver then allegedly showed police a bag of marijuana.

The individual was cited for the vehicle violation and for the town bylaw violation for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Unsupervised Child on Maple Street
A concerned neighbor called police at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3 to report that a young child was walking up and down Maple Street without an adult. When officers arrived, they found the child had already left the area with her mother.

Construction Work Leads to Gas Leak at North Hill
Police were called to on Thursday, April 5 at 8:56 a.m. for the report of a natural gas leak. A construction worker on the site, at 865 Central Ave., had reportedly struck a gas main, causing the leak. NSTAR workers arrived on the scene and secured the area. No injuries were reported.

Homeowner Cited for ‘Excessive Debris’
A St. Mary Street homeowner was issued a town bylaw violation on Thursday, April 5 after the individual failed to remove excessive debris from the property. Police visited the home at around 1:30 p.m. to follow up on a letter that was sent to the homeowner in February to remove the debris and found that the materials had not be removed, according to reports.
