Police Reports: Man ‘Acting Suspiciously Near Bank’

A man who was seen “acting suspiciously” behind the on Highland Avenue fled from a police officer when confronted.
A Needham officer was on patrol in the area on Wednesday, May 15 at around 3:30 p.m. when he noticed the man and approached him, asking the man what he was doing. When questioned, the individual—later identified as a 22-year-old Mount Ida College student—fled on foot toward Hunnewell and Webster streets, according to reports. Police searched the area but did not locate the man. The man later returned to his vehicle.
No charges were noted in the police report.

A Longfellow Road resident contacted police on Thursday, May 17 after someone called claiming to be a grandson and said he had been arrested in Mexico and needed money.
The resident was able to contact their grandson and confirm that he was not in Mexico. Police advised the individual that the call was a common telephone scam.
Traffic Violation
A Newton man was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and revoked registration after he was pulled over on Highland Avenue on Tuesday, May 15 at around 4:40 p.m.
Telephone Scam Reported
A Guild Street resident contacted police on Tuesday, May 15 after receiving a phone call from someone requesting financial information. The resident did not give out the information.
