Almost 500 guests attended the Rashi School annual fundraising dinner at the Seaport Hotel Boston. R&B singer Jermaine Paul, the “surprise” entertainment of the night, closed the festivities to the delight of audience members. The dinner honored alumni parents Barbara and Ed Shapiro, who received the prestigious 2017 Kehillah Award for their outstanding leadership and commitment to the school, the local community and causes across the globe.

Highlights of the night included philanthropist and community leader Jeff Swartz’s touching video message from Jerusalem to Barbara and Ed Shapiro, remarks by CJP president Barry Shrage and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito as well as a heartfelt speech by Head of Upper School Glenda Speyer.

Also honored with the Tikkun Alum Award were Larry Tobin (class 2001), Associate Vice President of Major Gifts at CJP and Rosie Eiduson (class 2009), who is pursuing a Master’s degree in public health and working in research administration at Boston Children’s Hospital. The Tikkun Alum Award is granted each year to Rashi alumni who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to continuing their social justice work in their post-Rashi careers.
