Needham Democrats to attend Convention June 2, 2018
Over 90 people attended the Needham Democratic caucus on Saturday morning, February 3, at the Newman Elementary School to elect delegates to represent Needham at the state party’s Democratic Convention to be held June 1-2, 2018 at the DCU Center in Worcester.
A candidate needs to get the support of 15% of the Convention delegates to appear on Democratic Party’s primary ballot in September 2018.
The elected delegates are Artie Crocker, Claire Dee Ecsedy, Heidi Frail, Cyndi Roy Gonzalez, Jay Gonzalez, Don Gratz, Michael Greis, Tom Harkins, Joe Hutcheson, Laurie Hutcheson, John Kirk, Susan Kirk, Dan Matthews, Evan Rauch, Rebecca Rausch, Bob Smart, Susan Welby, Andrea Wizer, Harmony Wu, and Heather Yountz.

Alternates are Jack Cooney, Jane Dornbusch, Susan Willard Rosenthal, and Rob Vecchi.
Ex-Officio delegates from Needham are Denise Garlick, state representative; Lida Harkins, Democratic state committee; Walter McDonough, Democratic state committee; and Michael Diener, Needham DTC chair.

Delegate Jay Gonzalez is also a Democratic candidate for governor; and delegate Rebecca (Becca) Rausch is a Democratic candidate for the state senate seat currently held by Richard Ross.
The state party also allows minority, disabled, youth, and LGBT+ individuals to become delegates through an "add-on" process. "Youth" in this context, means you are between 18 and 35 on or before September 18, 2018. One can apply online at MassDems.org.
The Needham Democratic Town Committee is the local Needham unit of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. The town committee works to promote the Democratic Party, its platform, and its candidates, and holds meetings with speakers on topics of state and local interest.
