Rosemary Pool is currently closed as temperatures near 100 degrees. According to Needham Park and Recreation, the closure is due to health concerns they relate to residents being outdoors at the moment.
"The pool didn't shut down due to the heat," Park and Rec. Director Patty Carey told Needham Patch.
According to a statement released by Park and Rec., the Board of Health has asked that the pool be closed "again for a few days" due to a small amount of bacteria found in a water test conducted Monday. Park and Rec. related that the bacteria type is from humans.

"Which is why all pools ask swimmers to take cleansing showers before going swimming," read the statement.
Another bacteria test was conducted today, according to Park and Rec., but results will not be available until Friday afternoon. Weekly tests check for the presence of coliform, standard plate count, E Coli and pseudomonas. In addition to the weekly tests, the water is tested four times a day to check the levels of chlorine, pH and combined chlorine levels.

Park and Rec. related that it is also bringing in an independent pool specialist "to evaluate the possible causes for the elevated bacteria count."
"We apologize for having to close on such a hot week," the statement continued, "but also want you to swim here knowing it's safe for all of you."
