Car windows smashed and items taken out of vehicles

Police responded to the parking lot of Gold's Gym at 8:25 a.m. on May 12 after a woman reported a larceny from her motor vehicle. The woman stated that she had parked her car in the upper lot, placed her pocketbook under the front passenger seat and locked the vehicle after leaving.

Upon returning to her car, the woman found the front passenger window had been smashed. Her pocketbook, which contained her driver's license, credit cards and $25 cash, had been taken. The pocketbook was a grey BCBG with a strap, valued at $250. The wallet, meanwhile, was a black Diesel worth $60.

As officers checked on this vehicle, they discovered another in the lot had also been broken into. In this case, the car had a broken passenger side window. The owner of the car stated that a Mac Notebook, valued at $2,000, had been stolen. The man also told police that he was missing $100 in cash and numerous gas cards.

Police believe that a door in the latter case had been opened and entry was made to access the front console. There were also numerous smudge marks found on the door and the vehicle had pry marks on the left side of the window jam.

Officer Timothy Dooher arrived on the scene shortly after and observed the damage to the female driver's car. Upon inspection, he found a lottery ticket on the ground next to the vehicle. The ticket, according to Dooher, was folded in a specific manner that would suggest it was used to hold drugs. The ticket was collected and logged into the system as evidence.

The victims in each of the aforementioned cases were advised to cancel their credit cards.
