Shoplifting, House Fire: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

February 13

12:30 p.m. - Needham Police received a report of a person attempting to steal items off the shelf at a Highland Avenue business. Needham Police are investigating.

A resident of Norfolk Street reported that someone took money from his bank account without his permission. The bank and Needham Police are investigating.

3:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Highland Avenue business for a report of shoplifter. The store manager stated numerous employees observed a man put merchandise in his pockets. The merchandise was valued at $107.77. The 40-year-old Boston man was given a no trespass order and was issued a summons for shoplifting.

February 15

9:52 a.m. - An officer responded to a 1st Avenue business for a report of shoplifting. Upon investigation, a 43-year-old Framingham man and a 42-year-old Framingham woman were issued summons for shoplifting by concealment.

4:30 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Great Plain Avenue business for the report of a disturbance inside the lobby area. Upon arrival it was determined that it was simply a misunderstanding and the business did not wish to pursue the matter.

7:05 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to the area of Gould Street by Mills Field for a report of a man leaning against a tree and drinking. The 42-year-old Framingham man was obviously intoxicated and taken into protective custody.

8:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Central Avenue address for report of a disturbance between the operator of a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The driver of the motor vehicle stated he got into a verbal confrontation with a pedestrian who ran in front of his car. The pedestrian punched his car and fled in an unknown direction.

February 16

3:15 a.m. - Officers responded to a Webster Street address for a report of a house fire. Needham Fire extinguished the fire.

8:45 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Bridle Trail residence for a reported case of identity fraud.

6:43 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle that had a defective brake light and stopped the vehicle at Dedham Avenue and Webster Street. The operator had an active arrest warrant for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration. The operator, Earnest Pope, 47, of New Bedford man, was placed under arrest for the warrant. He was also issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle after registration revocation, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and Attaching improper plates. The vehicle was towed.
