Space Crunch Hits Needham High School
A renovation could open up some space and bring classroom sizes down.

NEEDHAM, MA — The first day of school at Needham High School may feel a bit cozy, due to a ongoing space issue that Superintendent Dan Gutekanst hopes so solve by next year.
The school committee looked at a plan this week that would have construction on an addition begin in February and end by August. The plan requires approval from Town Meeting, according to the Needham Times.
According to Gutekanst, the school of 1,800 was desgined for 1,450. To make space, windowless storage rooms have become classrooms and classes that were once 24 students on average are now 30.
