On the Cumulative Progress and Performance Index (PPI), Needham High School received a score of 99 out of 100. Other schools were not included in the PPI because they took part in the next generation MCAS exam.

The progress and performance index combines information about narrowing proficiency gaps, growth, and graduation and dropout rates over multiple years into a single number, according to the DESE. All districts, schools, and student subgroups receive an annual PPI based on improvement over a two-year period and a cumulative score based on four years of data. For a group to be considered to be making progress toward narrowing proficiency gaps, its cumulative PPI must be 75 or higher.
