Stolen Packages, Vandalism: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

December 13

A party came into the police station to report that they were a victim of a scam. They said the FBI called them and was told they owed the IRS money and if they did not pay immediately they would be arrested. The caller then "transferred" the party to the IRS. The "IRS" then said they owed $13,000 and it had to be paid immediately via iTunes gift cards. The party purchased gift cards and gave the numbers to the caller. The matter is under investigation.

A Murphy Road resident reported that a package that had been delivered to the house had been stolen off the front porch.

8:16 a.m. - A Pine Street resident came in to report a suspicious male in the backyard from the previous evening. The incident is under investigation.

11:15 a.m. - An officer attempted to stop a motor vehicle for a red light violation at the intersection of Great Plain and Greendale avenues. The vehicle traveled for approximately three-fourths of a mile before pulling over briefly, then continued on for another three-fourths of a mile to a residence on Woodledge Road. As a result of the stop, a 25-year-old Needham woman was issued a summons for a red light violation and failure to stop for police.

8:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue Apartment for report of suspicious individuals. Upon speaking with the reporting party it was determined the suspicious individuals were solicitors using aggressive sales tactics. The reporting party was advised and an officer said they would follow up with the solicitors company.

December 15

9:00 a.m. - A Resident of Riverside Street reported a package was taken from her front porch.

An officer was notified that racially and religiously offensive vandalism was located in a bathroom of a Harris Avenue school. This matter remains under investigation.

A resident of South Street reported that someone had used her identity to make some fraudulent charges. She notified her bank and the charges were canceled.
