Stolen Tire, Mulch Fire, And More: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges don't imply conviction.

August 21

5:35 p.m. - A walk-in reported an unregistered motor vehicle located at 3 Memorial Cir. An officer responded and located two vehicles on the property without license plates. The owner was notified that the vehicles have to be removed or registered with 10 days in accordance with the town bylaws. Two red tags were issued to the vehicles.

11:00 a.m. - An officer responded to a Chestnut Street business for a report of possible vandalism. No vandalism occurred and it appeared to be an accidental mulch fire due to cigarettes.

8:44 a.m. - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Highland Avenue at Cross Street for an expired Registration. The operator did not have a license and was identified as a 41-year old woman from Norwood. The woman was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle without a license and operating with expired registration.

9:25 a.m. - An officer traveling behind a vehicle on May Street discovered that the owner's license was suspended. Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator, a 28-year-old Mansfield man, was issued a citation for operating with a suspended license.

12:15 p.m. - An officer responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of a stolen spare tire. The reporting party stated that the spare tire from her Jeep was stolen sometime between 10:15 a.m. and noon.

4:30 p.m. - An officer I responded to a Morton St. address for a report of a possible paving scam. Upon speaking with the reporting party it appears that the paving crew offered its service and began work prior to the homeowner's approval. At the completion of the work the crew then demanded payment for the unapproved work they had done.
