Street Racing, A Strange Man, And More: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

January 20

3:30 p.m. - An officer took a walk-in report of a past incident of vandalism on Harris Avenue. The reporting party stated that his motor vehicle was vandalized on Jan. 14 while it was in a parking lot. The matter is under investigation.

11:42 p.m. - An officer observed a blue Toyota FJ Cruiser take a right onto Great Plain Avenue from Warren Street. The FJ Cruiser failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Warren Street and Great Plain Avenue and continued onto Great Plain Avenue. The officer stopped the vehicle. After a brief investigation, the juvenile operator was issued a summons for minor in possession of alcohol, junior operator passenger restriction violation, and a stop sign violation. The parents were notified.

January 21

6:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Second Avenue residence for a report of a suspicious person looking into cars. Nothing appeared to be amiss

January 22

11:55 p.m. - An officer observed a Honda Civic traveling on the wrong side of the road racing side by side with another vehicle on Webster Street. The Honda Civic was stopped and as a result a 26-year-old man from Randolph was issued a summons for operating to endanger, racing, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.


January 23

10:00 a.m. - A walk-in reported that she was the victim of identity theft. Someone had unsuccessfully tried to open a line of credit using her information.


January 24

10:20 a.m. - A walk-in from a Forest Street address reported that she sold tickets to a show on Craigslist in November 2017. The reporting party stated that she sent the tickets prior to receiving payment and then never received the money she was owed for the tickets.

3:00 p.m. - A Hancock Road resident reported that his wallet was stolen approximately two weeks ago and recovered in Wellesley. The victim was not sure if the wallet was stolen in Needham or Wellesley.

5:45 p.m. - An officer responded to a Greenwood Avenue residence for a report of a suspicious person. It was reported that a strange man was seen in the area on Jan. 17 and began to approach a 13-year-old girl. The girl fled into her nearby residence and locked the door. The man did not say anything but remained in the area for about five minutes. He was described as a male in his late 20s or early 30's, either Caucasian with a dark complexion or Hispanic, having a medium build, and driving a light colored sedan that was playing music extremely loudly. There is nothing further at this time.
