Supermarket Disturbance, Man Charged With Fleeing OUI Crash, And More: Needham Police Log

June 20
11:04 a.m. - An officer responded to a Second Avenue address for a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. The reporting party stated that his vehicle had been keyed overnight. The matter is under investigation.
11:15 a.m. - A resident on Central Avenue reported that someone used her Social Security number fraudulently. She was advised to contact the state’s Social Security Division.

6:35 p.m. - An officer responded to a B Street business for a disturbance. There had been a disagreement between residents over a past issue involving their pet dogs. Both parties were advised them to stay away from each other. There were no further issues.

June 21
7:24 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to the Needham Post Office for a reported employee causing a disturbance. The employee was escorted off the property without further incident.
3:45 p.m. - Officers responded to Roche Bros. on Chestnut Street for a report of a disturbance inside. The party in question had left the business before the officer’s arrival. The vehicle they left in had been observed by staff and a 50-year-old Boston woman was pulled over a short distance away by other units. She was told she was no longer welcome at the business or any other property they own. No criminal charges are pending.
4:50 p.m. - An officer observed a vehicle violate several traffic laws on Harris Avenue and the license plate belonged to a different vehicle. The plate was seized, the vehicle was towed and the operator, a 28-year-old Needham man, was cited and issued a summons for speeding, attaching plates and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
6:00 p.m. - Officers responded to Central Avenue for a report of a hit and run crash. The witnesses told police that the suspect’s vehicle fled the scene after the crash and was now stopped just off Central Avenue. The operator had climbed out of the heavily damaged vehicle and fled into the woods on foot. The operator was apprehended a short time later and placed under arrest. Joao Monteiro, 54, of Everett, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, and a marked lanes violation. The vehicle was towed.
