Three Weeks Later, Volante Farms Returns to 100 Percent

The local farm was fully reopened for the first time in three weeks Thursday.

NEEDHAM, MA — Three weeks after closing, Volante Farms is once again fully operational and open.

During the Fourth of July weekend, the store applied a sealant to their retail floor, which resulted in an odor coming from the area. Despite venting the area for two days, a smell from the sealant remained. While the fumes were non-toxic and safe, the farm chose to keep venting the smell and get rid of the fumes before reopening.

Cleaning efforts to get rid of the smell took days. Earlier this month, the farm said they had to heat the retail area to 90 degrees for three hours, then flush air through the building in an effort to get rid of the odor.

On July 22, a floors expert was brought in to remove the original sealant and apply three coats of the proper sealant. At that point, the Needham Board of Health signed off on a reopening, paving the way for the July 27 reopening.

Volante Farms is open from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. on the weekdays and until 6 p.m. on the weekends.
