Top Boston School Official Named Needham Assistant Superintendent
Boston Instructional superintendent Alexandra Montes McNeil is coming to Needham.

NEEDHAM, MA — A superintendent from the Boston Public Schools will make the move to Needham this summer.
The school committee voted at a recent meeting to appoint Alexandra Montes McNeil to assistant superintendent for human resources, effective July 1. She comes to Needham from Boston, where she's been an instructional superintendent since 2015.
McNeil said she was excited about the opportunity and looked forward to growing and learning in the role.

McNeil succeeds Thomas Campbell, who is retiring after 12 years on the job.
Prior to becoming an instructional superintendent, she was a principal at Mario Umana Academy from 2009 to 2015 and an assistant headmaster at Boston Latin School from 1996 to 2009. She holds a bachelor's degree from MIT and a master's degree and doctorate from Boston College.

The search attracted 60 candidates. Thirteen were interviewed, three were selected as semi-finalists, and two were named finalists.
