Raisman and the 2016 U.S. women's gymnastics team begin competition Sunday.

NEEDHAM, MA — Needham's favorite gymnast is back and she's looking to leave Rio with another gold medal for Team USA.

The 2016 Olympic Games start Friday night and for the second consecutive games, Needham resident Aly Raisman will captain the women's gymnastics team. Raisman leads a five-person squad that is considered to be one of the most talented in the world and has exceptions of a first place finish.

Joining Raisman will be 2012 teammate Gabby Douglas. Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian, and the world's best Simone Bliss round out the 2016 side.

Team Round

The United States will taken to the gymnastics arena on Sunday, Aug. 4 as part of qualification group four. Qualification will not air live on television and will be show in prime time on NBC. If the U.S. qualify for the final, that will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 with the broadcast to be delayed and shown in prime time.

All coverage can also be seen live on NBCOlympics.com. A cable subscription is required.

Individual Round

The women's individual all-around final takes place on Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. The event will be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com and shown on delay that evening on NBC.
