Volante Farms Strives for Full Reopening

The local farm announced that their greenhouse reopened Tuesday

Needham, MA—After a few rough days, Volante Farms is in the process of reopening.

The local farm announced Monday that their greenhouse would reopen Tuesday. The store has been closed since Fourth of July weekend due to a smell from a floor sealant.

"We will be selling Homegrown produce along with the plants and gardening supplies normally offered in the greenhouse. The kitchen, deli, bakery, ice cream and wine and beer departments will remain closed for the time being," the farm wrote on Facebook.

Progress is being made in the farm stand, with a temporary one in the greenhouse. The farm says they are heating the retail area to 90 degrees for three hours, then flushing air through the building in an effort to get rid of the odor.

On July 7, the store announced they applied a sealant to our retail floor during the holiday weekend. Despite venting the area for two days, a smell from the sealant remained. While the fumes are non-toxic and safe, the farm chose to keep venting the smell and get rid of the fumes before reopening.
