WATCH: Beth Israel Deaconess Needham Building Demolished

The old Needham Pediatrics building is coming down to make way for a new outpatient clinic center.

NEEDHAM, MA — A part of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham is coming down to make way for a new building.

Demolition of the administrative building formerly known as Needham Pediatrics started Tuesday morning. The hospital is building a new outpatient clinical center where the old building stood.

Hospital officials were excited about the new building, which will be home to several departments including cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopaedics.

"I've lived in Needham for almost 30 years and seen a lot change. Nothing has changed more than our local hospital which has been transformed into a modern institute," Barry Coffman, a representative for the hospital's board of trustees said.

Construction on the new building is slated to start in December, with a 2019 opening planned.
