NEEDHAM, MA – The body of an 81-year-old woman was found dead at a Needham apartment complex overnight. Police responded to an apartment on Linden Street around 11 p.m. after the victim, identified as Laurie Shifrina was found dead by her daughter during a well-being check, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said. The complex is close to High Rock School in Needham.
Morrissey said Shifrina appeared to be the victim of "sharp trauma." Police say the suspect took the victim's car, a red 2011 Ford Fiesta with license plate 1BD 712.

"Parents of students of the nearby High Rock School should know that law enforcement is not currently aware of any elevated danger in the area or reason for undue concern," the DA's office said.
Following an alert for officers and residents to be on the look out for the victim's car, the DA's office announced Thursday afternoon that police have recovered the vehicle. Authorities said the vehicle was found on Dorchester Avenue and did not release further details.
