Woman Injured in Christmas Eve Hit-and-Run in Needham

Police have identified the driver.

NEEDHAM, MA — Police are looking for a driver who struck a pedestrian and drove away.

Saturday night at about 5:20 p.m., a 79-year-old woman from Port Richey, Florida was struck by a motor vehicle while walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of Highland and Oakland Avenues, according to the Needham Police Department.

Police say the vehicle drove away from the scene without stopping and was followed by a witness in another motor vehicle to their home in Needham. A 70 year-old Needham female was identified as the operator of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who was conscious, was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston by the Needham Fire Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
