2. New Bedford police internal affairs reports detail Flock misuse (newbedfordlight.org) — New Bedford residents are learning more about how two city police officers allegedly misused the Flock license-plate reader system to track people they knew personally, prompting the chief to recommend their termination and notify prosecutors. The City Council will meet this week to consider new rules or even a ban on Flock and other surveillance tools, while some cameras have already been removed and public feedback is being sought.
3. Exhibit gathers stories of migrants in New Bedford's fishing industry (newbedfordlight.org) — An exhibit at New Bedford's Community Economic Development Center is sharing first-hand stories from Hispanic, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean and other migrants who built new lives through the city's fishing industry. Visitors can listen to multilingual interviews recorded on the docks, highlighting both opportunity and ongoing challenges for newcomers while celebrating the immigrant labor that keeps New Bedford's fleet running.
