Logan Souza Casting Local Talent for New SouthCoast Thriller Film (wbsm.com) — A Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech graduate is casting local actors and crew for a new SouthCoast-set thriller, offering residents a chance to get involved in filmmaking close to home. The 19-year-old, who previously appeared on a major TV series, is seeking local talent for key roles and production positions and is emphasizing SouthCoast participation throughout the project.
   

3. This coastal city 1 hour from Boston inspired 'Moby Dick' (bostonuncovered.com) — New Bedford's rich whaling past and ties to Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" make your city a destination for literary and history lovers just an hour from Boston. Visitors are encouraged to explore landmarks like Seamen's Bethel and the New Bedford Whaling Museum, and even hop a ferry to Nantucket to round out the classic New England maritime experience.
   

4. Massachusetts nursing home rules on the move after press reports (newbedfordlight.org) — State officials are moving ahead with stricter nursing home licensing rules that could affect facilities caring for New Bedford residents, after investigative reports raised concerns about oversight. Speaking in New Bedford, Gov. Maura Healey said the new regulations will allow deeper scrutiny of operators' records and are intended to boost safety and accountability across Massachusetts homes.
   

5. One seriously injured in Acushnet Motorcycle accident (fairhavenneighborhoodnews.com) — Emergency crews rushed a 21-year-old motorcyclist to St. Luke's Hospital Trauma Center in New Bedford after a serious crash at South Main and Jean Streets in Acushnet on September 24. The rider was later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital, while the car's driver was also evaluated at St. Luke's as police and state crash investigators reconstructed the scene.
