Donate used winter coats this fall, winter (cnhi.com) — Newburyport residents can donate gently used winter coats now through Jan. 9 at Anton’s Cleaners on Storey Avenue, supporting the long-running Coats for Kids & Families program. Warm, wearable coats in all sizes, especially XL and infant/pre-K, will be cleaned for free and distributed locally, and schools or organizations can still register online to host their own coat drives to help neighbors stay warm.

Weekend Roundup: Newburyport field hockey hangs tough, scores a goal, against No. 1-ranked team (cnhi.com) — Newburyport High’s field hockey team just tested itself against top-ranked Dover-Sherborn, scoring once in a tough 6-1 loss that should sharpen the Clippers for the playoffs before they host Rockport on Monday. Newburyport volleyball also stayed hot with a 3-0 sweep at Wakefield, inching closer to a CAL Kinney title, while nearby Pentucket and Triton teams battled through pivotal late-season field hockey and volleyball matchups.

Indigenous Peoples Powwow Celebrates Tribal Heritage And Culture WBZ NewsRadio 1030 (iheart.com) — An Indigenous Peoples celebration in Newburyport is spotlighting Wampanoag culture, with longtime singer and dancer Kitty Hendricks-Miller sharing songs and stories. She describes how pride in Native heritage has grown since her childhood, and how local schoolchildren now embrace both the traditions and responsibility of raising awareness that Native communities are still here.
   

4. A New CEO for River Run (bankerandtradesman.com) — River Run Bancorp’s incoming CEO, Sujata Yadav, will oversee Newburyport Bank along with two other community banks while keeping them locally focused and mutually owned. She emphasizes preserving each bank’s community identity, including Newburyport’s, while upgrading shared technology so local customers get big-bank level digital services without losing personal relationships.
