20 Cars Broken Into, One Arrest: Newton Police Logs
There was a rash of car break-ins recently in Newton.

NEWTON, MA — Here's a sample of the other types of calls the Newton Police Department respond to each day from the Newton Police logs, crime chart and sometimes police scanner radio, which are public. Arrests do not imply conviction. And just because someone reports a crime does not mean it happened that way.
Tuesday, Jan. 23
Several attempted home break ins: An Auburn Street resident called police to report an attempted break in. The responding officer saw the backdoor and door jam had significant damage but it did not appear that anyone was able to make it into the house. While the officer was at this address, another Auburn street resident reported she,too, was the victim of an attempted break in. Police went to her home and saw that it appeared someone attempted to force the door open, there, too. The locking mechanism was pushed, breaking some of the door jam. Shortly after a Prospect Street resident reported an attempted Break in around the corner at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Child molested: A child was reportedly molested. No further info was available.

Wednesday, Jan. 24
Another one: A Weir Street resident reported between 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. someone came into his home. He said when he came home he found his side door was open.
Lock your car: Someone reported that their car was broken into while it was parked on the 300 block of Waban Avenue.

Gem of a discovery: Police responded to an alarm at 28 Lincoln St, at Eric Bleiler Jewelers for a front door and glass break alarm. When police arrived they immediately saw that the front door was shattered. A rear jewelry case as well as the front door appeared to be the only items damaged, but police are not yet certain what was missing.
Arrested: Around 10:50 p.m. someone reported what they thought might be a man breaking into cars on Winchester Street. The caller described a person sitting in a red SUV in a driveway and then walked down the street and turned into the townhouse driveway. Dispatch relayed the caller described the party as a white male, wearing a red sweatshirt, a black vest and glasses. Police said they found someone matching the description step out between two cars. Police arrested Corey Michael Conchado,19, of Connecticut and charged him with B&E to a motor vehicle, Attempt to commit a crime to wit/B&E to a motor vehicle.
Thursday, Jan. 25
Car breaks: Police responded to 17 reports of car break ins around the city. A Philbrick Road resident called to report two cars were broken into while parked in the driveway. While police were investigating this report, they found a car in a different driveway appeared to have also been rummaged through. A Woodcliff Road resident reported something similar, as did someone on Selwyn Road (Police later noticed other cars on that road also broken into).
Other streets where people reported their cars appeared to be broken into included, Parker Ave, Country Club Road, Woodcliff Road, Cloverdale, Athelstane, Alexander roads and Bunny Circle.
More: An officer on patrol on Rowena Road saw a number of cars had their dome lights on. The officer stopped to check them out and it looked as though someone had gone through the center consoles and the glove compartments on the cars. At least one of the owners told police he thought he'd left the car unlocked. Police found another car broken into in a similar way on Cloverdale Road.
Dude, where's my car: A Dedham Street resident called to report that when he got up to go to work his truck was missing from his driveway.
Arrested, drugs: Police arrested Hector Emilio Hernandez, 20, of Roslindale and charged him with possession of class B w/intent to distribute (Fentanyl).
Shoplifter arrested: Police arrested Eddy S. Pamphile, 35, of Boston on Hammond Pond Parkway at Route 9 after they stopped him because he matched the description of one of the people who shoplifted from Bloomingdales. They found him wearing a coat with security tags still attached. He was charged with larceny of something worth more than $250.
Friday, Jan. 26
Break in: A Glenwood Avenue resident reported that their home was broken into at 5:12 a.m.
Shoplifting: At 11:17 a.m. someone at the CVS on Watertown Street reported a larceny.
Stolen: A little later someone reported a larceny at the Learning Prep Center on Washington Street and then someone else reported something similar at Evans Park on Centre Street.
Saturday, Jan. 27
Police responded to 59 incidents Saturday.
Break in: A Lenox Street resident called at 1:56 a.m. to report someone broke into their home.
Stolen: Someone called to report something was stolen from The Towers of Chestnut Hill on Hammond Pond Parkway.
Fight: Someone reported an assault at the Star Market at the Street in the middle of the afternoon.
Sunday, Jan. 28
Police logged 47 incidents they responded to Sunday.
Neighbors: Police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Glenmore Terrace just after noon.
Threats: At least four calls about threats came in including one at Bill's Pizzeria on Beacon Street,
