3 More City Councilors Endorse Lennon For Mayor In Newton

Ward City Councilor Jay Harney and At-Large City Councilor Lenny Gentile have endorsed Scott Lennon for Mayor of Newton.

NEWTON, MA - From the Lennon For Mayor Campaign: The Lennon for Mayor campaign continued to attract endorsements, as At-Large City Councilor Lenny Gentile and Ward City Councilor Jay Harney endorsed Scott Lennon for the city’s highest office. Councilors Gentile and Harney join former Mayoral candidate and At-Large City Councilor Amy Sangiolo in endorsing Lennon, giving him the backing of all three councilors representing Ward 4.

“The citizens of Newton have been represented in our City Council by dedicated and passionate public servants,” said President Scott Lennon. “Councilors Gentile and Harney have worked hard for years to represent their constituents and work to improve this city. I have enjoyed working alongside them, and look forward to moving Newton forward together.”

Lennon’s 4 terms as City Council President has been marked with productivity in the council, and a culture of collaboration among the Councilors.

“Scott is a humble leader,” said Councilor Harney. “He listens to all sides, he never looks down on anyone, and he respects the opinions of everyone, even when we disagree. Most important of all, Scott is a trusted leader who rolls up his sleeves and gets the job done.”

Scott’s experience both on the Council and as a Budget Professional has often been pointed to as an asset to bring to the Mayor’s office.

During that time, I have observed a young man who has matured into an outstanding family man and someone who is highly respected in his professional field,” said Councilor Gentile. “Scott has the right combination of compassion, management and financial expertise, and political skills to continue to move the City of Newton forward as its next Mayor.

Councilors Harney and Gentile join Ward 4 Councilor at-Large Amy Sangiolo in their endorsements. The former Mayoral candidate endorsed Lennon last week. Lennon has now received the endorsements of 7 of the Newton’s sitting City Councilors.
