ALEX WONG OF NEWTON, MASS., PLACES NINTH AT 2016 ITF YOUNG SENIORS WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Alex Wong Places Ninth
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Six American teams took part in the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships this past week in Umag, Croatia. The 24 players were competing for six Cups in the 35- to 45-and-over equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. Alex Wong of Newton, Mass., placed ninth with his team in the Italia Cup.
Wong is currently the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Vassar College and the Director of Tennis at the Woodland Golf Club in Auburndale, Mass. Wong’s personal and professional interests in the tennis world run deep. He first started playing tennis at age 10 and has been playing competitively since then. He played collegiate tennis at Wesleyan and was previously the Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach at Bentley University.
The top U.S. teams in each respective division were the Men’s 45 & Over team, which finished fifth in the Dubler Cup, and the Women’s 35 & Over team, which finished fourth for the Suzanne Lenglen Cup. The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 35-45.

The ITF Young Seniors World Individual Championships will be held May 7-14.
