Harvard Vanguard Doctor Receives Award for International Community Service

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, a multi-specialty physician practice with offices across eastern Massachusetts and an affiliate of Atrius Health, is proud to announce that Dr. Richard Bail is the recipient of the Dean’s Community Service Award from Harvard Medical School/Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

The Dean’s Community Service Award was established to recognize individuals who have made outstanding personal efforts in serving the local, national or international community. Dr. Bail received the award for his work as co-founder and president of Communities Without Borders (CWB), a non-governmental organization.

The mission of CWB is to provide educational opportunity to orphans and vulnerable children.  It currently benefits more than 2,000 children living in impoverished areas of Zambia, most of whom are AIDS orphans.  The strategy of CWB is to establish sustained, personal linkages between communities in the US and communities in Zambia.  Currently, the children supported by CWB are passing standard examinations at a higher rate than the general public.
