Arrest Made in Armed Robbery at Newton Gas Station, Held on Bail
Matthew Skinner turned himself in to police Friday. He is charged with robbing the Gulf gas station on Beacon Street earlier this month.

NEWTON, MA – A 33-year-old Newton man suspected in the armed robbery of a local gas station earlier this month turned himself in to police Friday.
Matthew Skinner was arrested on a warrant charge of masked armed robbery; he is accused of brandishing a weapon while robbing the Gulf gas station on Beacon Street on Nov. 15.
Skinner was arraigned in Newton District Court. He was ordered held on $5,000 bail and ordered to stay away from the Gulf Gas Station, its employees, and have no contact with the victim. He was also ordered not to have drugs or alcohol.

Police said on the night of Nov. 15 around 9 p.m., a man allegedly presented a "long gun" and spoke to the clerk before being handed an indeterminate amount of cash and fleeing east down Beacon Street.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect at the time.
