Attempted Puppy Nabbing, A Plant Theft And Other Tales From The Newton Police Logs
An officer was dispatched to Hull Street for a report of an attempted dog nabbing and other calls to police last week.

NEWTON, MA — The following is from Newton Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. And all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Follow the Newton Patch on Facebook.
Tuesday, June 13
Plant thief: A Wamesit Road resident called to report someone stole a potted Adelia from where he had it near the sidewalk in front of his home.
Vandal: While police were investigating that plant theft it was somehow brought to their attention that someone had spray painted a street sign.

Larcenies: Three reports of larcenies came into the police station including one on Centre Street, Wamesit Road and Washington Street.
Fireworks: Just before midnight someone reported possible fireworks at the Lexington Street Apartments.

Wednesday, June 14
Break in: A Commonwealth Road resident called police to let them know he thought someone was in in his apartment, breaking in. (see story)
Thursday, June 15
Stealing: Two reports of a larceny came in including one at the Bank of America on Walnut Street and one at Hollis Hotel.
Lunch time arrest: Police served a warrant to someone at the Chipolte on Needham Street.
Crystal Lake: Just around 11:30 p.m. police were called to Levingston Cove near Crystal Lake.

Saturday, June 17
Happening now: A High Street resident called to report they thought someone was breaking into their home.
Keyed: Someone reported their car was keyed on North Street while it was parked near Fiorella's restaurant.
Attempted puppy nabbing?: An officer was dispatched to Hull Street for a report of an attempted Dog nabbing. A woman told police she was just coming home and saw a woman walking away from her house with her dog in her arms. She said she confronted the woman who apparently did not want to hand the dog back at first. Eventually the woman walked down to the Newton North baseball field. Police said they looked for the suspect, described as white with blonde dredlocked hair scooped up a ponytail. At the time of the woman appeared confused and possibly high and homeless, the woman told police. At this time is is unknown if the woman was trying to steal the dog or if she found the dog and was trying to help it as the dog is known to get out often.
