Boston Launching Community News Radio Station, Lasell to Cover Daytime Broadcast
WBCA will begin broadcasting on 102.9 FM in June, providing a community news radio station for Boston.
A new neighborhood news radio station is hitting the airwaves this summer.
WBCA will begin broadcasting on 102.9 FM in June, providing a community radio station for Boston, said Mayor Marty Walsh.
The low-power signal will be broadcast from Boston Neighborhood Network and operate between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.

BNN will hold public meetings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on:
- May 18, Roxbury Innovation Center at the Bolling Building, 2300 Washington Street, Roxbury
- June 15, Joseph P. Tynan School, 650 E 4th Street, South Boston
- June 22, Jackson/Mann K-8 School, 40 Armington Street, Allston
"I encourage residents to come out and discuss how our new community radio station can best serve our neighborhoods," said Walsh in a statement. "I thank BNN for their partnership with the city to create another platform for civic engagement."

Multiple community organizations applied for the license, so the signal will be shared. Lasell College will broadcast from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Global Ministries from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.
