Break-In Caught On Video, Vandalism At Schools: Newton Police Log

Just a sample of the many calls Newton Police got this week.

NEWTON, MA — The following are examples of the type of calls that police responded to in the past week. It's important to note that because someone reports an incident does not mean that's how it happened. The following are taken from the Newton Police public log.

Nov. 30, Friday:
Break in caught on video: An Adeline Road resident called to report their home was broken into, and the glass door to the second floor bedroom at the back of the house smashed. Area footage the police obtained showed a silver car in front of the home at 5:34 p.m. A man wearing a light colored baseball hat and a dark colored jacket was seen walking up to the front door, then around to the back of the house. The video also showed another individual, unknown description, get out of the car and follow the other man to the rear of the house. The video shows the car pulling away at 5:42 p.m..

Larceny: A larceny was reported on Channing Street.

Attempted Break in at the grocery: Someone called to report sometime overnight someone attempted to get into the Auburndale Market,#345 Auburn St by breaking one of the front windows. No entry was gained. A large window pane to the right of the front door had three large indents, all approx. 6 feet or higher. Two hand size rocks were found just outside the front door that are believed to be responsible for the damage.

Larceny: There were larcenies reported on Wells Ave and on Highland Street.

Dec. 3, Monday

Stolen: Someone reported that while they were at the American Legion Post 440 on California St the week before, someone went into his 2016 Acura Sedan and stole an Apple iPhone 6. The man said he was unsure if he'd locked his car, but there were no damages to it.

Vandals: Someone reported an instance of vandalism near the corner of North Crossing and Park Street.

Dec. 4, Tuesday

Larceny: Someone reported a larceny at Pond Street, and later that day one on Vineyard Road.

School Vandalism: Someone reported vandalism at the Burr School. And later that day at Newton South Annex.
