“I am running because I love Newton and want to ensure that our government and community are prepared to take on the challenges of today as well as the challenges our children and future generations will face,” Bryan said in a statement. “The charter commission is an important opportunity to re-examine our city’s founding document, continuing a proud tradition hearkening back three centuries to the founding of modern American democracy. I will approach this opportunity with the mindset that Newton is a wonderful place to live and will continue to be so long as we take the time to carefully consider opportunities to modernize while staying true to the traditions and customs that have made Newton great.”
Bryan is a lawyer currently serving as the Legislative Director & General Counsel in the Office of Massachusetts State Senate Majority Leader Harriette Chandler. He also serves locally on the Newton Democratic City Committee executive committee and as the Vice Chairman of the Newton Ward 1 Democratic Committee. Bryan has previously served as the Policy Director for Warren Tolman’s Campaign for Massachusetts Attorney General, Internet Communications Director for New Mexico Senator Tom Udall, and on President Barack Obama’s 2007 primary campaign for the presidency.
