He had spent the last ten years as the principal of Newton North.

NEWTON, MA — A district leader is departing at the conclusion of the current school year, according to a report from The Newton Beacon.

Newton North High School Principal Henry Turner is moving on from his position in June. The Melrose native is leaving to become the next Superintendent of Schools in the town of Reading. The 47-year-old entered the field of education as a history teacher at Sherburne Falls and Lexington. His first principal job was in Bedford before Turner took over at Newton North.

Turner’s decade-long tenure is highlighted by an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and spearheading initiatives that provided laptops and other supplies to students who struggle financially.
