Cop Log: PA Man Found Asleep in Newton Lot on His Drugs
The Newton Police department supplied the following information. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Friday, Jan. 16
- Police responded to Newtonville Ave. for a report of a stolen City of Newton issued recycling bin
- Police responded to Watertown Street for a stolen license plate. The person reported that he noticed his plate was missing from the front of his vehicle.
- Police were dispatched to the area of Marymount Road for a report of a suspicious person sitting in a car. The car had been parked on the road for an extended period of time. Police approached the vehicle and saw a man sleeping in the front seat. After many attempts, he woke up and acknowledged officers, but was in a confused state. The man waved at police and motioned for them to go away. He rolled down his window and police noticed he had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and was lethargic in his actions and speech. The man was not able to tell officers where he was or where he was going, or to formulate complete sentences, and his words were slurred. He handed over multiple credit cards instead of his license. When he stepped out of the vehicle, police saw a syringe underneath where he was sitting, and a clear, plastic bag filled with a brown powdery substance was in plain view on the center console. Police found steel wool rolled up on a ball. Steel wool is commonly used by drug users to smoke drugs. A small glass pipe was also discovered. Searching the man, police found another plastic bag filled with brown powdery substance in his sock. Sergey A. Sargyan, 31, 490 Plaza Blvd, Morrisville, PA, was charged with OUI drugs and possession of Class A drugs
- An unwanted party was reported at Linden Street. When police arrived, they found that the “unwanted party” had a warrant out of Dedham District Court for failure to appear. Cameron Adams Lefevre, 22, 43 Lindon St., Newton, was placed under arrest
