Cops: Car Break on Nonantum; Three Men on Surveillance Ripping Off Liquor Store

The Newton Police department supplied the following information. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Jan. 12, Newton police responded to a call from a resident on Nanantum Street for a past vehicle break-in. The victim had parked his car in the driveway on Jan. 11 around 3 p.m. The next morning, his neighbor flagged him down to tell him his wallet was in the street. The victim checked his car and found that someone had been inside, only taking the wallet. Inside the wallet were numerous credit cards, personal papers, a blank check and cash. Only the cash was stolen.

On Jan. 12, police responded to 1142 Beacon St. (M&D Liquors) for a report of past larceny, the second to occur at the business within a week. At 3:40 p.m., the same individuals who were involved in the previous shoplifting incident had returned, said police. Both men, along with a third the second time, are on surveillance footage stealing liquor. The footage shows a black male standing at the end of the counter, with a lighter skinned male standing in close proximity to him. When the store clerk turned his back, the lighter skinned male turned and grabbed a bottle of liquor from the speciality aisle directly behind them. He hid the bottle inside his jacket. The footage shows a third male walking around the store while the shoplifting takes place, and prior to leaving, one male bought a lottery ticket and the other a bag of chips.

The men are described as:
