Driver in Fatal Newton Restaurant Crash Indicted
Bradford Casler, 55, was indicted Wednesday on two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of operating a motor vehicle to endanger.

NEWTON, MA – The driver in a fatal car crash at a West Newton restaurant in March was indicted Wednesday by a Middlesex County grand jury.
Bradford Casler, 55, of Newton, was indicted on two counts of motor vehicle homicide and one count of operating a motor vehicle to endanger in the Sweet Tomatoes crash that killed two customers and injured seven employees and patrons.
According to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office, at approximately 6:12 p.m. on March 1, Casler was allegedly driving a Volkswagen Touareg SUV down Chestnut Street in Newton when he allegedly crossed over Washington Street. He allegedly collided with several cars on Washington Street before crashing through the front of the restaurant, the DA's office said.

Eleanor Miele, 57, of Watertown, and Gregory Morin, 32, of Newton, were killed in the crash.

Casler's license was revoked following the crash as an immediate threat, according to the DA's office. He will next be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court.
