1. Candlelight vigil.  for missing Boston College student is scheduled for this evening at the Cassidy Playground in Brighton. The playground is located near the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, at the corner of Chestnut Hill Avenue and Beacon Street. All are welcome to attend. 

2. "Best Of" winner announced today. That's right, we're going to be announcing the winner of our first "Best Of Newton" contest today. The category is best sandwich and is still in the lead with more than 40 percent of the vote! Want to get a last-minute vote in for , or ? !

3. Go Tigers! Last night the Newton North boys' basketball team defeated Marshfield 75-49 in a first round game for the South Div. 1 tournament. The boys will go on to play New Bedford Saturday evening at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the Newton North girls' . The game is set to start at 7 p.m. and will take place in Franklin.

4. Author discussion at Union Street. will host a discussion tonight at in Newton Centre. The event is sponsored by , Boston University School of Theology, The Pub Church of Boston, and . The event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
