Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 4

Basketball semi-finalists, a walk for a missing student and a health fair where you can say hi to Patch!

1. Semi-finalists. The boys' basketball team beat New Bedford last night 59-46 in the South Div. 1 quarterfinals. The boys will move on to the division semi-finals on Wednesday, March 7 where they will face Brockton. The game will be held at UMass Boston and starts at 5:30 p.m. (Information provided by the MIAA website).

2. Walk for Franco. The friends and family of will hold a walk for Franco today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group will meet at the reservoir to walk and show solidarity for Garcia's family.

3. Honoring Hubie Jones. Mayor Setti Warren is scheduled to speak at a dinner tonight honoring the career of longtime activist and Newton resident Hubert “Hubie” Jones. The dinner is sponsored by Can-Do, a non-profit that supports affordable housing. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. and will take place at the .

4. Health fair. will host a community health fair today from 9 a.m. to noon. The day will include health screenings such as bone density, cholesterol, blood pressure, lower back assessments, eye pressure checks and more. Also, Patch will have a table set up at the fair, so stop on by and say hello! The fair will be held in the Hospital's Wikstrom Surgical Center (East Entrance).

5. Mitzvah Sunday. The 12th annual Mitzvah Sunday will take place today from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Students, faculty, family and parents from the will volunteer at a number of Greater Boston organizations. The day will start at the Upper School on Wells Avenue, but volunteers will move out and work at various organizations throughout the morning.
