Intoxicated Driver Crashes Into Newton Bar, Seriously Injuring 1, Cops Say

Police said a man was intoxicated when he struck two pedestrians then crashed into The Cherry Tree Bar & Grill Saturday.

The incident happened at about 2 p.m. on Washington Street, the Newton Fire Department said.

The driver was a 21-year-old man from New Hampshire who was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and driving to endanger, according to the Boston Globe.

One of the pedestrians suffered serious injuries, the Globe reported.
