Mason-Rice Crossing Guard To Retire After 40 Years

The Mason-Rice PTO will be throwing a retirement party for Maureen Cahoon on June 9 at the Newton Marriott.

NEWTON, MA — After more than 40 years of standing in the middle of the road, stopping cars and guiding children and their families safely across the street on their way to and fro school, Mason-Rice crossing guard Maureen Cahoon is retiring at the end of the School year.

The Mason-Rice PTO will be throwing a retirement party for Cahoon on June 9 at the Newton Marriott.

"We will honor Maureen’s service with an evening of music, dancing, and great food and drink," reads the PTO website. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online. The tickets go to buying food and drink and party supplies, according to the PTO.
