New Insight Into Investigation of Anti-Semitic Incidents at Newton Middle School: Report

A less-redacted version of the investigation into incidents at F.A. Day Middle School last year was released to the Newton TAB on Friday.

NEWTON, MA – A less-redacted version of an investigator's report on the handling of two anti-Semitic incidents at F.A. Day Middle School gleans new insight into how the school and its administrators addressed the situation, according to the Newton TAB.

The report was released to the Newton TAB on Friday and indicates, among other revelations, that some teachers had expressed concern over the incident to each other and one had apparently brought it to the attention of administrators weeks before Principal Brian Turner informed the F.A. Day community, the TAB reported.

Last February, Turner sent a letter to parents detailing the two incidents, which included graffiti scrawled on a bathroom stall in October of 2015 and a swastika found etched in the snow just off of school grounds in January. Turner left his post in June and took a job as director of professional development and assessment in the Office of Teaching and Learning amid criticism for his handling of the incidents.
