Newton Area Top 100 in U.S. For Community Well-Being: Gallup Poll

The Boston-Cambridge-Newton corridor landed 58th on Gallup's 2016 rankings.

NEWTON, MA – The Boston-Cambridge-Newton corridor was ranked No. 58 on the recently released 2016 Community Well-Being Rankings compiled by Gallup. Barnstable (No. 2), Springfield (No. 70) and Portland, Maine (No. 32) also made the cut. The survey was based on the "five elements of well-being — purpose, social, financial, community and physical."

"Where you live can impact your health and well-being," said Michael Acker, of Healthways, which collaborated with Gallup on the poll. "Innovative leaders are transforming their communities to create improvements in how people socialize, work, eat, play and move. These changes are empowering citizens to make healthier choices, be more productive and have better quality of life. Employers, health systems and community leaders are poised to create positive change by promoting meaningful and measurable actions towards better well-being. And, by doing so, they invest in a brighter future for all."

Naples, Florida was ranked No. 1 in the nation. The results were based on thousands of phone interviews, according to Gallup.
