Newton Schools officials fired a baseball coach accused of child sex assault by New Hampshire police after a month's long investigation.

NEWTON, MA — Newton Public School District officials fired a baseball coach accused of child sexual assault by New Hampshire police last week, according to an email sent home from Principal Joel Stembridge.

“His employment was terminated immediately following notification from the Newton Police Department that Mr. Hernandez-Disla has been charged in a criminal matter,” Principal Joel Stembridge wrote in an email sent to parents of Newton South baseball players Wednesday night.

Jose Hernandez-Disla, 24, at his home on Weston Street in Waltham on May 8 after a months' long investigation, according to the Litchfield, New Hampshire, Police Department.

The investigation came after someone reported a sexual assault on someone under the age of 18, the Police said in a news release. At the end of that investigation, police issued a warrant and the Waltham Police with the New Hampshire field office of the US Marshal, they said in a statement.

Hernandez-Disla was charged with two counts of felonious sexual assault a class B felony and certain uses of computer services prohibited a class B felony.

Hernandez was released on $7,500 cash bail last week and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Nashua Superior Court on May 24.

Representatives from the Newton Public Schools did not return request from Patch for comment over the weekend, but Hernandez-Disla was the former freshman baseball coach at the Newton South High School.

Stembridge said in the email to families on the baseball team that the allegations against 2nd year coach Hernandez-Disla involve no Newton South students, and Hernandez-Disla’s only position at South was as the freshmen baseball coach.

Before coming to work at Newton South, the district had, per protocol, Hernandez-Disla had completed a CORI form and passed a background check, Stembridge said in the email.

Varsity assistant coach Paul Kolodzinski will take on coaching duties for the remainder of the season, Stembridge wrote.
