Newton Heads Back To School: What To Know
From important dates to links to meetings and supplies and the lunch menu, here's what to know as you or your child heads back to school.
NEWTON, MA — If you're a parent or guardian of a child in school, watch those inboxes for the official Newton Public Schools welcome back letter, according to Superintendent David Fleishman who said he's also working on his welcome speech for faculty.
As school gets ready to get into full swing here are some important facts in numbers:
Sept. 4: First day of school (read all about the other important dates on the calendar here:)
100: Fleishman said there are about 100 new teachers this year in the Garden City.
12,750: That's the number of students who were officially enrolled last year. Fleishman said he expects that will be just about the same number again this year. You'll have to wait til Oct. for the official number.
15: There are 15 elementary schools in Newton, including Cabot, which is undergoing major renovations.
4: There are four middle schools
2: And two high schools. Newton North and Newton South.
1: There's one new principal, Rebecca Brogadier is coming in to take over Ward Elementary.
