Newton Man Named Clinical Advisory Council Chair of Atrius Health

Dr. Karim Awad joined Atrius Health in 2012.

From Atrius Health: Atrius Health is pleased to announce Karim Awad, MD has been appointed as Chair of the organization’s Clinical Advisory Council. In this role, Dr. Awad is responsible for overseeing the council, which advises Atrius Health leadership and the Atrius Health Board of Trustees on organizational clinical care issues, policies and procedures, and other physician/clinician issues such as the care model and job satisfaction. As Chair of Atrius Health’s Clinical Advisory Committee, Dr. Awad is an ex officio member of the organization’s Board of Trustees.

Dr. Awad joined the practice in 2012, and currently serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Department of Clinical Affairs and Chief of Sleep Medicine for Atrius Health. He is a prominent advocate for tackling clinician burnout, and is currently participating in a statewide workgroup with CRICO and another with the Massachusetts Medical Society and Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association to help improve clinician wellbeing.

Dr. Awad holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and received his medical degree from Tulane Medical School. He completed a neurology residency at Harvard Medical School with Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and a sleep medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School with Brigham & Women’s.
